A city rich in history, where you can see many layers of the past: the bazaar, places of worship from different religions, and the scars of the recent war. Sarajevo is a place that tries to move forward without forgetting its past.

Sarajevo’s Baščaršija – A Glimpse into the Ottoman Past

A bustling old town to fall in love with. Enjoy a local coffee, watch the people, and imagine how these streets looked before they were filled with tourist shops and souvenirs. It is such a fascinating place, where different religious cultures meet and history can be experienced almost like an open-air museum.

The Copper Alley has a charm of its own, and you can admire the fine craftsmanship, especially the traditional coffee makers and their beautifully decorated cups. You can also find locally produced coffee in one of the main streets. It is prepared in the traditional way, with the beans roasted and finely ground to a powder-like consistency. It is worth taking some home and enjoying the rich, distinctive taste yourself.

On the nearby Trebević mountain, you can enjoy stunning views over Sarajevo, hike through the surrounding nature, and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
